Each year, the WES PTO/Hospitality Committee sponsors a breakfast and basket giveaway for every staff member that supports our kids each and every day here at WES for Teacher Appreciation Week.
On Friday, May 8th, we will host the breakfast, and then they will get to choose a donated basket. The information for both the breakfast and baskets are in the sign up links below. You can check out some ideas here for baskets we have received in the past! We need a lot of volunteers to make this happen so please consider signing up to bring food or donate a basket!

New York Times-bestselling author Kate Messner visited with our PM K - 2nd grade students on April 21st to share her newest picture book The Whale's Tale and the Otter's Side of the Story. A limited number of signed copies are available here. WES students can also check out newly signed copies of many of her books from the WES Library! Kate Messner has written over seventy books for kids, including award-winning picture books like Over and Under the Snow, the popular History Smashers graphic nonfiction series, and the Ranger in Time historical adventures.
Too busy for dinner with spring sports and activities . . . we’ve got you covered on Tuesday, April 28th for WES Night at Swarthmore Pizza. Eat in, take out, or order delivery from Swarthmore Pizza on Tuesday, April 28th between 4pm and 9pm. A portion of the proceeds goes back to support our school - be sure to mention WES Night when you order.
WES May Day will take place Friday, May 15th from 12:30pm to 3:00pm! After Field Day in the morning, all students will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with games, prizes, treats and excitement for the entire family! Parents and siblings are invited to join us for this PTO-sponsored event, and there are many opportunities to volunteer!
Wristbands for students and siblings (which include unlimited games, two drinks, and three snacks) can be pre-purchased here for $12.00 per wristband, or for $15 from the May Day Ticket Booth. Please see the order form here to purchase wristbands via cash or check. If scholarship is needed, please reach out to your child's teacher or Coco Kaminski and a complimentary wristband will be provided. Each wristband purchased helps to fund the event, and we greatly appreciate your support of this much-loved WES tradition!
The WES Spirit Store is open —new tees, leggings, shorts! And a plush XL towel you can lounge on at the pool!

Save the date for WES Night at Rita’s coming up on Wednesday, May 6th from 6-9 pm. Join us for a fun night where the sweet treats benefit your PTO and enjoy the special "Rusty the Raccoon" Gelati flavor created just for us — Blue Raz Ice and Vanilla Custard topped with rainbow sprinkles! See you there!
Please save the date on Wednesday, May 13th for the WES Bike Bus – a group ride that gives kids a safer way to bike to school. Check out the detailed route information here. Please note - we ask that each child or sibling group be accompanied by an adult. If you would like to participate in biking or walking to school without completing the full route, please meet at the Helen Kate Furness Library parking lot between 8 and 8:15am. There, you can join other WES families and complete the final leg to WES! Stayed tuned for further updates.
